The HMV I preorderd my wii at is not doing a midnight launch as they arnt getting enough wii to for fill there pre-orders, however i am first inline, although i cant get there till after college and then i have 2 work for 3 hours till 8, but from there on in im playing through the night with my blue glow stick and red bulls lol enjoy your wii if you already have one and get one if you havent.

Tons of Twilight princess info from different preveiws SPOILERS

Advanced Media Network

Game takes place 100 years after the events of Ocarina of Time.
When you catch a fish you can hand it over to the local shop owner’s cat in return for a bottle so you can store a health potion.
Gamers will draw similarities between both Forest Temples from OoT and TP although this new Zelda is much prettier and features new gameplay elements etc.
You won’t have full 3D camera control as you did in Wind Waker.
Controls take time to get used to, about 30 minutes was enough.

GameDaily

As Wolf Link you can speak to the chicken that you may have “terrorized” when you were regular Link.
Howling is important as music/tunes was in Wind Waker. It’s based on the pitch of the howl.
Midna is the best character to come out of Nintendo in years says GameDaily.

Game Informer

According to Game Informer the game takes place “several hundred years” after the end of OoT.
It took four hours to reach the first dungeon and that was rushed through, meaning not as much exploring, talking to villagers, rupees digging and looking for secrets was done.
The graphics in the game is what would max out the Gamecube’s capabilities, but the Wii in general is still “ways off”.
You can expect multiple swords, shields and tunics in the game.

GoNintendo

You end up near a giant wall of Twilight (as seen in the trailer) where a massive hand takes Link into the Twilight Realm.
Zelda can tell that the wolf is the hero with the look of his eyes.
You must collect “tears” (from the insect-like creatures in the realm) in order to break the wall of Twilight so you can turn back to normal.
The game has a larger level of cinematic quality compared to other Zelda games.
Link’s expression is better than what has been seen in any other Zelda game which can be noticed from the body language and he feels ashamed, hurt, angry, upset etc.
Midna is a character you’ll love to hate and the level of interaction between Midna and Link is huge that Midna even treats Link as her slave.
Character development in the game is bigger than past Zelda games in the sense that you get to know more about the people in your town like what they do, about their families etc.
One of the speaker’s cue’s are “Zelda discovery” noise, unfortunately the quality isn’t the greatest.
Controlling Link’s sword attacks is just “too much fun” and worked 100% of the time.
Wii version is the definitive version.

Kotaku

Graphics are like a high end Gamecube title with enhanced shaders although in the Twilight Realm it has a cleaner edge.
Controls are not horrible and not stellar and Wolf attacking is the only major disappointment in battle.
Wolf Link has the ability to howl, a real-time music interactive where you control the pitch.
Fishing might be the most natural use of the Wii-mote in the whole game.
Game doesn’t utilize motion as well as games built for the Wii from the ground up.

Gamespy

When you restore power back to Ordona, she restores you back to regular Link but this time you’ll be wearing the famous traditional green tunic for the very first time.
First dungeon starts after three or four hours of gameplay.
The Wind Boomerang allows for “small tornado-like funnels of air” attacks.
The first dungeon also featured bomb-flowers to flesh-eating plants.
Name of the first dungeon boss is Diababa.
After defeating Diababa you get the Gale Boomerang.
Midna collects a “floating object” which is a piece of “fused shadow” after the first dungeon boss and you’ll need to collect the next two in the second and third dungeons.
Gamespy says the Wii controls worked while the “iffy” part of Zelda is that the game might be too long for some gamers.

Gamespot

Gamespot is still not sure about the new control scheme but they are “leaning” towards being cool with it.
Midna is more about her own “agenda” and is “kind of a punk”. She also has some kind of a relationship with Zelda and she knows more than she’s really telling Link.
Link’s “birthmark” is important as it is Tri-Force shaped on the top of his right hand and goes all funny when you enter the Twilight Realm as you shape into a wolf.
A friendly “bird-like” creature (as seen in the trailers) helps you to port you out of dungeons and she has a son who is part of one of the dungeons.

Ign

We can really look foward to at least a minimum of a 50-plus-hour adventure with Twilight Princess although Nintendo claims 70+ hours. Still it’ll keep you busy through the holidays and beyond.
All the whining and complaining about not getting the Wii version is “all crap” says Matt. Matt says that Nintendo should have scrapped the GCN version altogether.
Nobody complained about arms getting tired, nobody felt the continuity of the game universe and nobody complained about Link being a right-hander.
The “gift” that has to be sent to Hyrule is the handmade Ordon Sword and Shield.

Beginning Story: Kids chase a monkey through the forest, Link takes a wooden sword after them…adventure continues till goblins burst into the village…the story goes on from Link’s capture as a wolf to meeting Midna in the Twilight Realm…Twilight Princess is Zelda who speaks about the Twilight King invading the castle and Zelda had to make a choice to surrender and allow the citizens to live on as spirits or die, Link is unique because instead of becoming a spirit he became a wolf
Forest Story: Link comes back from the Twilight Realm but as a wolf but finds himself being blamed for by the townsfolk for the missing children, Midna tells Link that he must find a sword and shield, later Link meets Ordona (a forest spirit) at the healing spring and makes a deal that in order to turn back into regular Link, he has to track down the twilight monsters who stole her power…Link goes back to the Twilight Realm to find insect-like creatures…after gaining enough of the spirit’s power Ordona recovers Link back to regular form…(the first dungeon hasn’t even started)…Link enters the Forest Temple…you defeat a monkey king to get a Wind boomerang…Link has to rescue all the monkeys and once he does, they help him to the boss’s room where the Deku-parasite (the first dungeon boss who is three-headed) awaits (use boomerang to defeat him).
Visual design is far more beautiful than just about anything else out there

Sony has killed Lik-Sang

Hong Kong, October 24th of 2006 - Lik-Sang.com, the popular gaming retailer from Hong Kong, has today announced that it is forced to close down due to multiple legal actions brought against it by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Limited and Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. Sony claimed that Lik-Sang infringed its trade marks, copyright and registered design rights by selling Sony PSP consoles from Asia to European customers, and have recently obtained a judgment in the High Court of London (England) rendering Lik-Sang's sales of PSP consoles unlawful.

As of today, Lik-Sang.com will not be in the position to accept any new orders and will cancel and refund all existing orders that have already been placed. Furthermore, Lik-Sang is working closely with banks and PayPal to refund any store credits held by the company, and the customer support department is taking care of any open transactions such as pending RMAs or repairs and shipping related matters. The staff of Lik-Sang will make sure that nobody will get hurt in the crossfire of this ordeal.

A Sony spokesperson declined to comment directly on the lawsuit against Lik-Sang, but recently went on to tell Gamesindustry.biz that "ultimately, we're trying to protect consumers from being sold hardware that does not conform to strict EU or UK consumer safety standards, due to voltage supply differences et cetera; is not - in PS3's case - backwards compatible with either PS1 or PS2 software; will not play European Blu-Ray movies or DVDs; and will not be covered by warranty".

Lik Sang strongly disagrees with Sony's opinion that their customers need this kind of protection and pointed out that PSP consoles shipped from Lik-Sang contained genuine Sony 100V-240V AC Adapters that carry CE and other safety marks and are compatible world wide. All PSP consoles were in conformity with all EU and UK consumer safety regulations.

Furthermore, Sony have failed to disclose to the London High Court that not only the world wide gaming community in more than 100 countries relied on Lik-Sang for their gaming needs, but also Sony Europe's very own top directors repeatedly got their Sony PSP hard or software imports in nicely packed Lik-Sang parcels with free Lik-Sang Mugs or Lik-Sang Badge Holders, starting just two days after Japan's official release, as early as 14th of December 2004 (more than nine months earlier than the legal action). The list of PSP related Sony Europe orders reads like the who's who of the videogames industry, and includes Ray Maguire (Managing Director, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Ltd), Alan Duncan (UK Marketing Director, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Ltd), Chris Sorrell (Creative Director, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Ltd), Rob Parkin (Development Director, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Limited), just to name a few.

"Today is Sony Europe victory about PSP, tomorrow is Sony Europe’s ongoing pressure about PlayStation 3. With this precedent set, next week could already be the stage for complaints from Sony America about the same thing, or from other console manufacturers about other consoles to other regions, or even from any publisher about any specific software title to any country they don’t see fit. It’s the beginning of the end... of the World as we know it", stated Pascal Clarysse, formerly known as the Marketing Manager of Lik-Sang.com.

"Blame it on Sony. That's the latest dark spot in their shameful track record as gaming industry leader. The Empire finally 'won', few dominating retailers from the UK probably will rejoice the news, but everybody else in the gaming world lost something today."

Looks like Sony continues its run of great PR. It's a shame since Lik-Sang was a great site to order imports from and will be sadly missed. Good luck to all the staff in finding new jobs.

DS Browser Review

Well since I've had a couple of days to play around with it here is my review of the Nintendo DS Browser.

The memory expansion (10mb) and the expander you get with it to make it fit in the packaging.

How the memory expansion shows up (click image for better view)

Pros
One of the main reasons I brought this browser was because I didn't want to have to wait for my computer to start up if I wanted to quickly check something like my email or look something up on dictionary.com or wikipedia. In this respect the browser does its job as it is very quick to start up and connect to my network. Related to that fact is that you can log into web based email like gmail, yahoo and hotmail and they all work fine.

You can also control who has access to the browser by setting a password that must be entered before you can use the browser. This could be useful if you have young children and want to control when they can use it.

No password no access to the browser

The interface for the browser is good and takes hardly anytime to get used to. It has a simple layout but can sometimes take a while to respond if you are loading a page. The choice between SSR and overview are nice with SSR being suited to text heavy pages while overview is suited to image heavy pages.

Cons

First off there is a lot of things the browser doesn't support, this shouldn't be a surprise considering overal it has 100Mhz processor and 14mb of RAM to work with. The list of things is:

flash (that means no Youtube)
movie files
sound files
pdf files (if you make them appear in a google search it can read them as html)
java (so no online games like runescape)
downloading of files

There is also some stuff it doesn't support like digging stories on digg and google rss reader and calender don't seem to work.

There is also quite a few things they could of done to make the user experince better:

allow copying and pasting
let the user view any picture on a website by itself (for example if firefox you right click and view image)
allow tabs (ok this might not be possible with the RAM aviable but it still would of been nice)
save the cookies when the machine turns off so you don't have to keep signing back in
allow the user to set the homepage (you can say what links you want on it but you can't tell it to automatically load google.com for example)

Speed

The time is from me pressing the enter button to the browser reporting it had finished loading. For each test I loaded the homepage of each site and didn't try and do anything while it was loading. Times are in minutes:seconds.

Overall

If your using the browser for simple things like checking email and looking things up on wikipedia then it works fine just dont expect it to be anywhere near as fast as your computer. Overal for the current price of £30 (if your looking to import check out lik-sang) I'm not sure its worth it considering how few things are supported and how slow it is. Heres hoping the Wii version is better.

The Legend Of Zelda Twilight Princes, is a game of epic proportions, possibly the most anticipated game since The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time which broke down barriers between RPG and Action-Adventure and was critically and still is acclaimed as the greatest game of all time... well until this winter that is. Twilight Princess has been promised to beat the greatest game of all time in all factors, its gonna be bigger, its gonna look better, its gonna take longer and its gonna have horseback combat. We can be almost certain that this game has been in the works since the Japanese release of the Wind Waker back in December 2002, which puts a 4 year development cycle on it, in retrospect the first world war took about the same time, so we can be sure a lot has been done. We cant be sure how many renditions of the game Nintendo have gone through, perhaps they started with ideas of a wind Waker style, how ever I think not, at Nintendo's Space world event in 2001 a short clip was shown which showed a realistic Link fighting Ganondorf, although the character models now look dated compared to the Twilight Princess ones, it appears the original plan was to have a realistic Link, we may never know why the idea for this was dropped and we were given Wind Waker but we know the idea for the real looking Link for Gamecube has been there for at least 5 years properly since the release of Ocarina Of Time on the N64 back in 1998, as we have had Shigeru Miyamoto say his dream was always to have Link fight on horse back with his sword which is one of the biggest draws to Twilight Princess. So, 8 years in the making (well almost) and a console jump to the Wii as a primary retail focus, will we be disappointed if it only gets 90% as an average review result, potentially yes, this game has entered god like state in most Nintendo fan boys/girls heads and is going to be the holy grail when it comes to Wii launch day. I would not be surprised if Wii to Twilight Princess sales ratio exceeds 2:1 on the Wiis part, if I was Nintendo I would have a copy ready for every Wii just in case.
Is Twilight Princess the perfect launch title?
I would say no. I believe that Twilight Princess is killing Wii sales as I speak. You may already have heard recent reports that there are already 2 million Wii ready and waiting in storage for dispatch, 2 MILLLION, that is easily enough for a launch about 4 times that of what Sony expects for its PS3. So why haven’t we got our Wiis yet. The answer is Twilight Princess. With out Twilight Princess being ready, Nintendo doesn’t have there Killer App for launch, how can the Wii expect to succeed among the hardcore if there is no really solid title there for the launch, of course there is Red Steel, but its not something you would want to experience with the family. Consider lord of the rings trilogy, they are a set fantastic films which broke box office records each time one was released take this as twilight princess, they have similar themes and settings and even the most non-gamer after seeing LOTR and TP next to each other could find the comparisons and are great for everyone to enjoy. Now for Red Steel, lets take the Kill Bill films, fantastic films, but not the sort you want to sit around and watch granddad and 4 year old cousin. I’m not saying you will play Zelda with your granddad but I am saying that it would be an experience for them to watch you play and get into the story, and isn’t that what the Wii is about, getting the family involved, so in that aspect Twilight Princess is the perfect launch title a game for the hardcore which can appeal to the masses (even if it has a teen rating).
But is it worth the delay of the console… well in my opinion yes, if Nintendo hadn’t promised Zelda at launch, who knows what might have happened, my guess it would have been delayed again so they could ass some more stuff, but after one years of delay and a switch to another console, I think this is gonna be the best game ever anyway without having to add anything off.

Studio behind Viewtiful Joe is dead

Well it seems the Viewtiful Joes might of been fun but they obviosouly didn't make enough money as Capcom as closed the Clover Studio. For anybody that has a PS2 they also made Okami which looks like a very good Zelda type game and reviecved very high ratings. Overall this is very sad as the studio seems to fit perfectly into Nintendo's vision of gameplay being more important than graphics.

Im really sorry there have been no updates over the past week and a half, but school has been hard and so some of the small but interesting news has been passed by.

Wi production rate has been higher than expected. According to UBS 2 million Wii have already been produced and are awaiting release in storage, also they said "at least 7 mln and potentially as high as 9 mln more units are in the build plan for 4Q06." which is a huge contrast to nintendos predictions of 4mln by the end of the year. link

From July 2007, users can purchase the Opera browser using Wii points. Wii points are credits users can buy that allow them to add new games or the Opera browser to their Wii consoles. The number of Wii points required to purchase Opera has not yet been announced.

With support for Flash and AJAX-based content such as Google maps, Wii users will benefit from a feature-rich Internet experience that is uniquely customized for the Wii. Opera for Wii boasts the same complete standards support as the Opera 9 Desktop browser, and includes the added functionality of "Zoom" and "Bookmarks". The Wii remote control will also be an integral part of browsing, allowing users to intuitively control the Web with their Wii remotes.

Ive pre-ordered my Wii from the HMV that I work next to and should beable to pick up mine at midnight if they open for it along with a copy of twilight princess, it only cost me £30 and the reserve on Zelda was free. If your in the UK and looking for anything in terms of games I do highly recomend HMV, there reward point system is twice as good as GAME stores so you save £5 for every 1000 points instead of a measly £2.50. I am sure you have heard the news about the delay of the launch of PS3 console, but the good news is that the rumoured release date for Nintendo Wii is 24th November 2006 with the anticipated price for the console said to be only £149.99*.

Confirmation of the above is hard to come by at the moment as Nintendo are playing it close to their chest, although we expect there to be further announcements in the next couple of weeks to coincide with the Tokyo Games Show.

We are conscious that many of you will be desperate to place an actual order and reserve a copy on the launch date. It may be that Nintendo announce the details to the public at the same time as retail but rest assured that we will pass these on to
you as soon as we can. As a Registered Games Rewards Cardholder, we will still endeavour to give you at least 48 hours prior notice before we start taking

IBM announced that their Broadway chip custom-designed for Nintendo's Wii console has been shipping to Nintendo's since July. "We have been shipping well within this quarter (July)," said Ron Martino, director of IBM Technology Collaboration Solutions. "In fact, we have shipped a significant volume in this quarter."

So what does this news mean to gamers who have been waiting patiently for a release date from Nintendo? Well, considering that Nintendo has had their hands on a "significant volume" of one of the major components of their console since July, some might speculate that the Wii could be ready for release sooner than the expected October street date.

When asked to quantify the speed of the Broadway processor, IBM's Martino compared it to the GameCube. "Compared to the Gekko in the GameCube, it's 20 percent more power efficient. It also performs significantly better. The key point is that it is Power Architecture-based and custom-made and optimized for Nintendo," he said (not really answering the question).

With this update and Nintendo confirming the shipment of "6 million systems to retailers around the world between its launch in the fourth quarter of 2006 and the end of its fiscal year on March 31, 2007," we expect Nintendo might finally be ready to talk release schedule during their event in New York City next week.

No change in launch date for Japan and North America
London, Wednesday 6 September 2006 – Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) today announced that it would revise the launch date of its PLAYSTATION® 3 computer entertainment system in the PAL territories of Europe, Russia, Middle East, Africa and Australasia from 17th November 2006, as previously announced to March 2007.

Launch dates for Japan and North America will remain the same, which are November 11th and November 17th respectively.

The revision of the launch date in the SCEE territories is caused by the delay in the mass production schedule of the blue laser diode within the Sony Group, thus affecting the timely procurement of key components to be utilised in PLAYSTATION 3.

The previously announced PLAYSTATION 3 shipment forecast of 6 million units globally within the fiscal year ending 2007 is not changed.

But far fewer machines will be available for the launch dates in Japan and the U.S. because of the production problem, Kutaragi said.

In the U.S., about 400,000 PlayStation 3 machines will be available when they go on sale Nov. 17. About 100,000 will be available on the Nov. 11 Japan launch date.

Wii price, date and launch line up info

Well one of the largest magazines in the UK Games Masters seems to think they know alot about the Wii. Most important they claim that SSBB will be a launch title! There is also an advert which says NOM will have info about a new game apparently:

This is all rumours but for those wondering 77 days from 1st September is 17th November.

No online for 3rd-party Wii games untill 2007

"Gamers hoping for an online component, however, are in for bad news, because one isn't planned. Activision would not say why, but IGN has separately learned from multiple development sources that Nintendo will not release Wii Wi-Fi Connection libraries to third parties until early 2007, which means that no third party launch title will have an online mode."

Now this seems a very stupid move as online is going to be a big element in next gen (look at xbox live) and having lots of games at launch with no online isn't going to help the Wii.

Lost in Blue 2

Well I'm a massive fan of Lost in Blue on the DS so it's great to hear of a sequal:

Early next year, a sequel to the DS survival adventure game Lost in Blue will be found on store shelves in the form of Lost in Blue 2. Like the first game, the story revolves around a man and a woman who find themselves stranded on an island with no others in sight. To survive, the pair must forage for food, fight wild animals using weapons that have been found or fashioned by the player, and make use of their own unique skills. And in case the castaways' lives didn't seem hard enough, Konami has also added the threat of natural disasters, like hurricanes and earthquakes, to the game.

* Gameplay: Use the skill the Wii Remote and Nunchuk Controller provide to win the ball, score unstoppable goals and take control of the goal keeper to perform spectacular saves

* Characters: Mario is joined by other famous Nintendo characters who take on the role of captain. Players then select a host of popular teammates to make up the rest of the team.

* How to progress through the game: Players form an original team by combining one of 12 captains with three of eight sidekicks before competing in one of the games many modes. Anything goes in Mario Strikers Charged as players are allowed to utilize a variety of special abilities to clinch important goals.

* Super abilities/power ups/moves/features: Each captain has their own set of skills, super abilities as well as the ability to perform special shots called Mega Strikes, where the iron ball splits up to five balls and flies at the goal. The defending player must use the Wii Remote to target and aim at and shoot these balls out of the air before they concede a goal. In this game players can also charge energy to the metal ball, making it more likely to find its target when fired at goal.

* Stadiums: Each of the stadiums in Mario Strikers Charged have various characteristics and contraptions, which influence game play. Players must learn to use this to their advantage to truly dominate the pitch.

* Multiplayer: Mario Strikers Charged will not only feature an action packed multiplayer mode but will also support the Nintendo WiFi connection service, allowing players to take part in tournaments with people from all around the world.

23rd August 2006 - Challenging conventions, redefining the industry, leading the way with change and disruption - at last year’s Games Convention Nintendo made a bold statement that it would expand the definition of gaming.

Following today’s conference it is evident that Nintendo is delivering on its promises. With over 5 million DS owners across Europe, females making up 44% of all Nintendo DS owners in Germany and the huge success of the Touch! Generations range, Nintendo is clearly appealing to traditional gamers and non gamers.

In the coming year Nintendo will continue to expand the gaming industry with the launch of the highly innovative Wii. This year’s Games Convention saw the global premier of two brand-new 1st Party Wii titles, Mario Strikers Charged (tentative name) and Battalion Wars II. German football ace Philipp Lahm gave the audience a treat when his video message introduced Mario Strikers Charged, the all-new and improved version of Mario Smash Football. Nintendo also unveiled the new Battalion Wars II game for Wii and gave a demonstration of Wii showing how the innovative control mechanism allows people of all ages and experience levels to play together.

German quiz show host Joerg Pilawa gave a testimonial about the huge success of the Touch! Generations software and how the Nintendo DS has challenged convention since its launch. The perfect platform for the Touch! Generations titles, the Nintendo DS, which was developed to enlarge and diversify the gaming market has enabled people to play in ways never before imaginable.

Most recently, European consumers have gone mad for Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain?, with over 500,000 copies being snapped up in just nine weeks from the game’s launch in June. From Nintendogs puppies - which have sold more than 600,000 copies in Germany and over 3 million across Europe - to the second world of Animal Crossing: Wild World - which has sold over 600,000 copies across Europe - the amazing software results have created a dramatic shift in the way that both game makers and the public think of video games.

Wii for $170 says EA

“I’ve heard in Japan that the price is about $170, but I don’t know if the price has been set in Europe yet. Nintendo has come up with a very clever strategy. They’ve made a choice which is great for the consumer. Now we’re going to have a choice whereby consumers can buy a Wii plus one other console.” - Executive VP and COO of EA, David Gardner

Sounds good to me which hopefully means we can hope to see the Wii for £100 in the UK although I'm not holding my breath as that is the current RRP of the DS Lite so I think more in the £130 region.

Wiimakes coming?

Well it seems Miyamoto had an interview with Nintendo Dream and some interesting information came out involving remakes:

Nindori: Looking at the titles you’ve announced so far, it already seems like you’ll be releasing games at a faster pace than the N64 and GC.

Miyamoto: That’s because the machine is based on GC. Dev tools are of course being upgraded, but GC code will basically run as is. Because of that, I’m also thinking I can remake some of my GC games for Wii, making use of the Wiimote.

N: So you think games will experience a rebirth thanks to the Wiimote…

M: Yes. Of course you can wander into a second hand shop and buy a lot of these games still, so I don’t think we can release these Wiimakes at full price. Since a lot of the development cost has already been accounted for, we’ll be able to release these at a much more affordable price. And if others also take advantage of this and release Wiimakes, there’s a high possibility of a lot of software from third parties also.

N: So, there’s a possibility of Nintendo doing this?

M: Yes, I strongly believe there is. For this reason, the next Zelda will be released for both Wii and GC simultaneously. It’s quite an interesting experiment.

N: Ah, I see.

M: Also, when we were working on it, some of the staff were saying “Since the Wii has more power than the GC, let’s polish the graphics up a bit too”, but Zelda’s fans aren’t expecting polish, they’re expecting a fun and exciting game, so I said it is better if we make it fun both on Wii and GC. And recently it’s been established that “Wii is not a machine that tries to deliver next-gen graphics”. Of course, since there are still games that demand high quality graphics, there will be separate paths of development depending on the software.

Although this sounds cool I'm against it since I would prefer Nintendo to be working on brand new games why not just make a sequeal with Wiimote controls so we can have fun controls and new levels?

New Zelda control scheme

Well a lot of peoples dreams have just come true as according to IGN is reporting that Miyamoto has confirmed that in Twilight Princess on the Wii you will be able to swing the Wiimote to swing Links sword! Nintendo have said before that you would get tired quickly playing this way but it seems they have had a change of heart as Miyamoto said:

"Upon actually playing it, it's more interesting this way,"

Also the bow has been moved to the B button from the D-pad as the sword no longer needs the B button. Personally I can't wait for this game and I will definitely be picking up a copy with my Wii.

Tingle RPG commerical

Welcome to what could be one of the weirdest games on DS. First of here's the rough storyline from IGN:

A new RPG featuring the floating fool from recent entries in the Legend of Zelda series. You play as the Wind Waker/Majora's Mask treasure specialist when he was 35 and single, before his transformation into Tingle form. The main character gets word that he ought to head out to a spring. He does so, and along the way, he comes in contact with Rupeeji, a name that can be translated to Old Man Rupee. Rupeeji tells the main character that by collecting rupees and throwing them at the spring, he'll be lead to the dream land of Rupee Land. He accepts the quest and, through a magic spell, gets transformed into Tingle. Tingle has a guide in the game, a girl fairy called Pingle.

And I still don't no what to think about it! Graphics look good and it sort of reminds me of zelda gameplay but I guess I'll have to wait to a English/American version launches

No Gamecube controle for Wii version of Twilight princess

Ign confirmed my fears today as they reported that the wii version of TP will only be compatable with the wii controle setup, I was hoping that if you could not adjust to the wii controles you would be able to plug in a GC controler to play the game, but apparently not.

Zelda Controller Compatibility

You can play the GameCube version on the Wii console, but you can't play the Wii build with the GCN controller.

August 16, 2006 - Ever since Nintendo revealed that there would be two versions of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - one for GameCube and another for Wii - gamers have wondered if they could play the Wii build with the GCN controller. After all, Wii does play GCN games, too - but previous reports have suggested that Nintendo's innovative new remote is incompatible with GCN software.
Well, during a Camp Hyrule chat with Nintendo's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications, George Harrison, the executive confirmed once and for all that to play the Wii version of Zelda you will, in fact, need the Wii-mote.
"The GCN controller will be able to play the GCN version on the Wii console, but will not be able to play the Wii version," Harrison told chatters in a live conference.
Not exactly a revelation given that most informed readers already suspected as much, but a confirmation nevertheless, which is why we've picked it up as news.
Incidentally, the only known difference between the two builds - other than new Wii-mote-enhanced controller for the Wii version, of course - is that the Wii incarnation also runs in 16x9 widescreen mode, whereas the GCN one doesn't.

Yoshi's Island 2 now with Wi-Fi and baby wario

Seems that Yoshi's Island 2 will have Wi-Fi support of some kind but it hasn't been announced what it is. My bet is on some type of race mode which could be fun aslong as there's voice support. Also interesting to note is that the box art contains lots of baby characters including Wario, Peach and Donkey Kong along side Mario which could lead to some interesting game play elements.

A supposed insider leaks information about some features that could pop up in upcoming Wii games. Advanced voice recognition? Come inside for details.

It surely is a time filled with rumours. The past few days we brough you rumours about the possible time when the Wii release date will be released (read here) and a big fat new rumour section called ‘Hear Say Today’ (which you really need to read here), and now we’ve got another thing to add to the pile.

Apparently, a trusted person at the IGN Insider forums, who has been right before about a speaker in the Wii controller, has dropped a few pieces of information.

“…voice communication will be via wireless, head-mounted microphones…”

“Some peripherals for the DS will be compatible with Wii and vice-versa.”

“Many Nintendo first party games (specifically games designed for a younger audience) will feature a new system currently being developed by Nintendo called ‘voice to text communication’.”

“The system works using an advanced voice recognition system which Nintendo has been developing for several years. When a user speaks the sound is converted into on screen text and sent to the other players. However, rather than just plain text being sent the system also picks up the tone, pitch and volume of the voice and translates that into colour, font size and character set. For example, if a player shouts ‘I win’ loudly into the microphone the on screen text may be all capitalized, and in a large red font; conversely if a player speaks quietly the font may be a pastel shade and smaller.”

This system also allows online voice communication to be easily censored by the user.”

Funnily enough, as old school MLP readers might remember, an old visitor of the ‘Broken Saints’ blog over a year ago called ‘Aries’ talked about this same feature extensively. While even a broken clock is right two times a day, this rumour isn’t that far out there, considering Nintendo must have learned a lot about the use of voice in games with their DS.

We’ll keep you updated if anything breaks, however, we wouldn’t expect anything official before the Leipzig Games Convention next week. If anyone can confirm the things this supposed Insider has said, we’d be very happy.

Lets just remeber a couple of things here

1) PSP users get a web browser free
2) This version of Opera is old, its version 8 and version 9 is out right now
3) It doesn't support flash (PSP does) or video which means that you can't visit the most popular site on the web youtube.

But that's still ok aslong as they price it along the line of the brain age games at half price but no, Nintendo have decided to charge full price for this very limited browser.

Portable Gamcube rumours return

Seems the IGN briefly had an article up that has since been pulled that had a quote from an IBM source stating that they are shrinking and slowing Broadway (the CPU of the Wii)for a "future Nintendo handheld -- presumably one that plays Gamecube discs."

I can't see it being to play Gamecube games as having a CD drive spinning and Gamecube graphics would kill battery life just like the good old PSP. However I could see it being used in the successor to the DS as Broadway itself doesn't produce much heat, just look at the Wii and the rumours from a while ago that it was offered to Apple for use in a laptop. Hopefully they will use the chip but not discs and therefore have a good battery life, please?

Ubisoft today announced that they are working on a massive 7 wii launch titles kotaku reports;

Ubisoft says they are working on seven launch titles for the Nintendo Wii.

In addition to previously announced games Rayman Raving Rabbids and Red Steel, Ubi is working on Wii versions of Monster 4X4 World Circuit, Open Season, Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WW II, a GT Pro Series title and a Far Cry title.

Spore coming to the Wii?

July 28, 2006 - Nintendo of America today announced the impending launch of the Nintendo Fusion Tour, a nationwide festival that marries music and videogames. This year's Fusion Tour will be headlined by Hawthorne Heights and will also feature bands including Relient K, Emery, Plain White T's and The Sleeping.
In news that's every bit as important, the Big N also announced that it will offer Fusion Tour guests a sneak peek at its upcoming Wii console. Nintendo did not specify in what capacity Wii would be on hand, but playable demos are likely. My first Tee-shirt I ordered from the old Nintendo official magazine in the UK over a year ago, British game store gamestation now stocks this teeshirt (except its green in the one by me) among others, they sell for £9.99.

My second Nintendo Teeshirt was an absolutely lucky find, I found this tucked away at the back of a sales rail at a Bhs (british home store) which is a british home and clothing store which I would not normaly be in, but my sister was getting some school uniform. Any how, it was £7 and tucked away behind some little britain teeshirts.

My most recent teeshirt came from my local gamestation, which by the way is the largest game store here in the UK, although it is yet to be listed on there site. Please email us with your teeshirts so we can feature them on the site, if I get any more I will let you know.

now before you jump to conclusions that this is pure speculation, note that this scan is from the first issue of Ngamer which was formally known as NGC, which was the magazine which in last November revieled that Twilight princess will be playable on the Wii (then revolution).

so... what does this all meen well an article on joystick makes an interesting point;
The fourth quarter begins on October 1. Now look at the list. At least one game is released every Monday in the fourth quarter except for the following dates: October 2, November 20 and November 27. November 27 is after Black Friday, so it's out. November 20 is after the launch of the PS3, so that's out too. That leaves us with October 2. The Wii will launch on October 2.

The continuing success of DS has encouraged Nintendo to reforecast its profits for the year ahead, up from $556 million to $711 million. The company says it expects to sell 6 million Wii consoles and 17 million Wii games this financial year.

The company announced today that its profits for its first quarter were up 10 percent on strong sales of DS, boosted by DS Lite. Net income was up to 15.6 billion yen ($134 million) in the three months ended June 30, from $120 million yen this time last year.

The firm says it now expects sales of $5.4 billion as opposed to $5.11 billion.

For the quarter ended June 30, Nintendo sold 4.54 million DS and DS Lite units, up from 1.38 million last year. Sales of DS software titles rose from 5.3 million to 18.4 million.

Analyst Jay Defibaugh from Credit Suisse in Tokyo said, "On the handheld side they've been enormously successful with the touch-generation approach. The most recent data shows there has been an improvement in the North American market, with the introduction of DS Lite.''

Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata said that the company is selling machines as fast as it can make them.

On Wii, Nintendo maintained its forecast of 6 million consoles and 17 million games sold by March 2007.

Also it was anounced that 21 million DS's have been sold since its launch, that equates to one every 2 seconds that means that since you started reading this article about 45, no... 46 no... 47 DS's have been sold, now its 50 annnnnnd 51, and so on, 52.

Will AMD buying ATI affect Nintendo?

Well the news is out AMD are buying ATI for $5.4 or $5.5 billion depending who you listen to and the questions is will this affect Nintendo and the other video game companies? There's a couple of things that could happen..

AMD could force Nintendo to use their processors inside the Wii 2 or refuse to let them use an ATI chipset which would make backwards compatablity hard. Doing this would risk AMD losing GPU contracts which would cost them a lot of money but they could keep the GPU contracts and gain CPU contracts which would mean a large amount of extra income
AMD and ATI find a way to make a very fast CPU/GPU in one and Nintendo adopt that but that would brake backwards compatabilty with the PowerPc archetechuire and as the 360 has proved software emulation isn't the greatest.
AMD intergrates ATI in computers but allows them to make GPUs for consoles without AMD processors.

Out of all the options personally I can see number 3 happing the most as AMD would get extra money from the computer side and would still get money from the consoles. Also they could develop the GPUs used in the consoles for computers as I believe they are doing with the 360 GPU.

Miyamoto talks about Wii history and future games

Seems Miyamoto is a busy boy of late giving us lots of information of the Wii and its games. First of it seems that Nintendo were very close to dropping the speaker from the wii-mote but decided to keep it in as third parties requested it. On the game front however a couple of interesting things came out

"He let out one bit of information, confirming first if it was okay to reveal it. Nintendo is making a game in which four players play together by passing a single controller around. The controller calls out player names in order to indicate whose turn it is."

Sounds like something which might happen in Wario Ware to me.

"He also suggested another idea, a game where the controller quietly gives out secret information to individual players as their turn comes about."

Bring on the fights over who got the best secert informations and finally....

"Of the games that have been announced, I'm working fully on Zelda, and also working on Mario Galaxy and Wii Sports. I'm also working on the product that was referred to as 'Remote Pointer Demo' at E3."

Only 20-30 Virtual Consoles Games at launch?

Well the latest rumour going round it that there will be only 20-30 virtual console games at the Wii's launch, which to me this makes no sense. The publicity would be enormous launching with 500-1000 games and would ensure people would buy it so they could get there favorite old games .This can't be put down to cost and it wouldn't cost Nintendo a lot to host these games as many are only a few MB in size. Come on Nintendo and prove the rumours wrong and don't let this wonderful opportunity slip.

Seems like the iPod rumour mill is in full swing but this time it includes Nintendo, rumours are that the next iPod will have Nvidia graphics and be able to play classic Nintendo games. In a way this could make sense for Nintendo as they could sell games on the iTunes music store as well as through virtual console and tap into the giant user base of the iPod. But surely it would just be easier to release an add on to the DS that lets you play the games you've brought? I guess time will tell on this one but for now I'm calling bogus on it since the iPod doesn't really have the controls needed for games.

DS Lite Cracking Up

Well there's hardware problems at any product launch (just look at the xbox 360 or the macbook pro) and it seems a limit problem with the ds lite has been found. On some DS Lites the hinge has started to crack although this shouldn't be a serious problem as it is only a very small portion of the hinge that cracks and I'm sure Nintendo will replace it.
